So now it’s 2025…

A rusty metal pipe on a pebbly beach with seaweed growing on it.

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty good at starting new creative projects at the new year. It’s not always about 1st January - more to do with having time off work and being able to devote more time to my passions.

I decided that I would choose a creative focus each month to give me inspiration for future art and textile works. In January the theme was texture:

I collected most of these textures here in Ayrshire, on the beaches at Barassie, Girvan and Troon. There are also a few from our back garden and finally the textures to be found around Callander on a damp and soggy weekend. The weather in January may not be perfect but I love getting outside in spite of it, and enjoy everything I find all the more for it. Having a focus in this the longest and dreariest month certainly helps to see it through.
